PLATELET-RICH PLASMA FOR HAIR
Aurora Reig Clinic Valencia
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is an autologous biological material, meaning it is obtained from the patient’s own blood. A blood sample is taken through a venous puncture and then centrifuged to separate its different components (white blood cells, red blood cells, platelets, plasma). A portion of the centrifuged sample contains platelet-rich plasma, which consists of cells involved in coagulation. These cells contain a large number of substances called “growth factors” that promote cell migration and division. These factors have the potential to stimulate the repair response of damaged tissues.
When applied at the scalp level, PRP stimulates the formation of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid, while also increasing vascularization at the hair follicle level. This makes it an ideal treatment to slow down hair loss and promote regeneration in patients with moderate hair loss.
